Barbara Duncan

Ms. Duncan brings over 16 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience to the Board of Directors. She retired from Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, where she served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer from May 2009 to June 2016 and helped lead the operational and strategic plans, including managing the buildout of international operations and preparing financial teams for commercial product launch. From 2001 to 2009, Ms. Duncan held various senior leadership roles of increasing responsibility at DOV Pharmaceutical, Inc., a biotechnology company, including Chief Financial Officer and ultimately serving as Chief Executive Officer prior to DOV’s sale in 2010 to Euthymics Bioscience, Inc. At DOV, she developed and led in the execution of strategic plans, restructured several of the company’s partnerships and led negotiations on licensing transactions. Prior, Ms. Duncan served as Vice President of Corporate Finance - Global Healthcare at Lehman Brothers Inc. from 1998 to 2001, and as Director of Corporate Finance at SBC Warburg Dillon Read Inc. from 1994 to 1998. She also worked for PepsiCo, Inc. from 1989 to 1992 in its international audit division, and was a certified public accountant in the audit division of Deloitte & Touche LLP from 1986 to 1989. Ms. Duncan received her BBA from Louisiana State University and her MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She is chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Compensation Committee.
